my backyard is the duomo...no big deal.

bonjourno! so the past couple days have been crazy..i feel so exhausted at the end of every night because i am doing and seeing so much everyday! Sept 1rst was the day we moved into our apartment! it was also the first day of my intensive italian language class which i was so intimidated by..but i woke up early and got to school and after searching finally found my class and got a seat in the front row (i have a theory that since people always pay the most for tickets for the front row in concerts..that the front row in classes is also the most expensive so i am getting the most out of my money!) anyways..the first day we only spoke a little italian..it is very different from my spanish classes because the teachers would do direct translations and in italian it is very verbal and not much writing at all..so during class we then took a walk to the police station and had to get our tax id number which is for our housing that everyone needs to get..it was so nice to have a class that we go outside and walk around..our teacher showed us the famous spanish steps where babies were left at, the medici house where michaelangelo lived at for two years and was one of the most important buildings in florence..then when we got back there wasn't much more time so we went over how to say classic lines like "my name is.." or "how old are you"..it was pretty easy..then at two we got to move into our apartment! so my friend liz (who lives above me) and i rushed back to our hotel..jammed everything into our suitcases (of course we didn't pack the night before) and picked up a taxi to take us to our new apartamento! we got to our new house and quickly realize it was going to be ROOOUUGH to get all our stuff up these stairs..not only are the coblestone, but they are also uneven and suuuper steep! so liz and i sucked it up, rolled up our sleeves and started moving our huge suitcases up about 100 stairs...next time i am going down..i am counting and will let you know exactly! so after laughing, sweating, and crying a little we finally got them up! but once i came in the house..i was just soo excited! i honestly forgot how much i love it! i started to unpack right away..lauren wasn't home cuz she had class so i waited for her to talk about which bed we wanted, which closet we shared..just the typical roommate stuff..we then got all settled in and decided that we should go out for a night on the town..there was a club opening that night so we thought why not?! we met a promoter a few days ago and were put on the vip list so we didn't have to pay a cover charge which was sweeeet! we got inside and it was soooo crowded and full of americans and then a few creepy italian men! i have decided that 90% of italian men are all creepers! i am already over the whole discotech scene..not fun..we didn't get home till really late and then had class the next day at 9 am..not fun! so the next day i had my italian language class and i then i had a bunch of errands to run for a packet that we have to send in for staying here for such a long time..then i went grocery shopping, got bread, cheese, tomatoes, basil, a ball of mozzerella, proscutto, some yogurt, lots of pasta, some sauce (for one euro), and a bottle of spumonte (champagne) for 1.30 euros..so in total i spent about 12 euros! the food here is amazing and cheap! then at night we went up a floor to our friends place, sat out on their balcony, chatted it up and just stared at the view of the duomo because it is AAAMAZING!! like its seriously our backyard..i looove it! then this morning i had class again with our first test..kind of brought me back to reality..darn it! then this afternoon we went and payed the rest of our rent, got the internet working again and now i am going to make so pasta for dinner and then we heard about a festival that we are going to check out..tomorrow we are going to ikea and there is a free bus ride out there! so i will let you know how that goes..cuz whatever we buy we will have to take it on the bus and then up all the stairs again!
that is it for now! thanks for reading!!
ciao for now, michelle
